Mercier Bridge weekend lane closures one lane in each direction

12/02/2010

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke wishes to inform motorists that the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated and the Ministre des Transports du Qubec will completely close one side of the Mercier Bridge at specific times this weekend. (see graphic below)

The entire Kahnaw:ke-bound portion of the bridge will be closed to traffic, leaving one lane open in each direction on the Montreal-bound side from Friday, December 3rd at midnight to Saturday, December 4th at 7:30pm, and again from Saturday, December 4th at midnight to Sunday, December 5th at 7:30pm to install platforms under the bridge structure.

Please note that the width of lanes will be reduced to 3.3 metres. Trucks exceeding this width should take an alternate route. The Airlie entrance will also be closed during the work period.

Due to expected heavy traffic delays motorists are urged to use alternate routes to and from the south shore, such as the Champlain, Victoria and Jacques Cartier Bridges.
