Reminder - Membership Amendments meeting Thursday evening

The Kahnaw�:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission would like to remind the community that the third Community Consultation on amendments to the Kahnaw�:ke Membership Law is scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday, 28 Enn�ska/February). The meeting will take place from 6pm to 8:30pm at the Karonhian�nhnha School Gymnasium and will utilize the Community Decision Making Process.

Consensus was reached on 29 Tsothohrk�:wa/January, at which time it was agreed that the law needed amendment.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke�s (MCK) Membership Department will present a suggested list of major subject areas of the Law to discuss for potential amendments. Community members will also have the opportunity to suggest other possible amendments.

Should consensus be reached on the amendments, a working group that includes community representatives will be created and the process for drafting the actual amendments will begin. Should consensus fail to be reached, another Community Consultation will be scheduled.
