Mercier Bridge Blitz work begins Friday, June 20

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform road users that the Jacques Cartier & Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) has finalized the plans for the �Blitz� work that will see the complete closure of the Kahnaw�:ke-bound side of the Mercier Bridge for seven (7) weeks beginning Friday, June 20th at 9pm until Monday, August 11th at 5am.

The closure will allow replacement of the deck, expansion joints, bearings and completion of paving and marking work on that portion of the bridge. Complete closures during the evening may be required on the Montreal-bound side to prepare and will be announced once confirmed.

The following measures are in effect during the Blitz:
-    The Montreal-bound side of the bridge will have one lane available for each direction of traffic;
o    The Montreal-bound lane will be limited to 3.3 meters; and
o    The Kahnaw�:ke-bound lane will be limited to 3 meters.
-    The bridge speed limit will be reduced to 50km/hour;
-    The 138 access ramp (from Chateauguay) of the bridge will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to the 132 access ramp.
-    The service road connecting Route 132 West to Route 138 West (direction Chateauguay) will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to the Old Malone Highway;
-    The access ramp from Airlie Street will be closed; and
-    Trucks will be prohibited during the rush hour periods between 5am to 9am on the Montreal-bound side and 3pm to 7pm on the Kahnaw�:ke-bound side.

The MCK and JCCBI will be working closely together to ensure that information on bridge work is posted in as timely a manner as possible. The MCK reminds the public that works/closures on the Mercier Bridge are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
