Grand Chief to Speak at Ottawa Hearing
04/09/2008
Grand Chief Michael Ahrhrhon Delisle, Jr. is scheduled to be in Ottawa on Monday, 14 Onerahtkha/April to speak at the Parliamentary Standing Committee Hearings on Bill C-30.
The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke is opposed to the legislation, which is being proposed as a new process to settle Native land claims.
We are fundamentally against a law that will limit the way we will be able to resolve our issues, said Chief Delisle. This is another fine example of the Canadian government creating legislation with little or no consultation with the people that will be most affected.
Additionally, chiefs from the Iroquois Caucus are also expected to speak to the issue on the same day.
