No danger as ship stopped in Seaway

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that a cargo vessel has stopped at the emergency dock across from the old K103 Building and is expected to remain there until remedial measures are taken.

The 736-foot Atlantic Huron, a Canadian-registered self-unloading freighter, was able to dock without incident this morning after a problem was found with its engines. Repairs are expected to take several hours and the ship is expected to leave later today.

The MCK�s Public Safety department has been on the scene and reports that there is no danger to the community, as the ship actually stopped before the issue became a problem.
