07/12/2017

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that a one-day Indigenous Policing workshop entitled Reconciliation: Indigenous Policing Models in a Pluralistic Society is being held in Montreal tomorrow (Thursday). The event will be followed by a tour of Kahnaw:ke, a visit to the Peacekeeper station and dinner.

Those involved in First Nations policing services from across the country will be attending.

The dinner will be hosted by the Kahnaw:ke Peacekeepers and will feature speakers offering their recollections of policing in Kahnaw:ke.

Policing in Kahnaw:ke has a long history, and Im proud to be part of it, said Ietsnhaienhs Gina Deer, who holds the Policing Portfolio for the MCK. On behalf of the community, Im pleased to welcome of the participants who will be visiting Kahnaw:ke and attending the dinner.
