Hawkers and Peddlers Sales Tactics

The Public Safety Unit (PSU) is advising the community to be cautious of door-to-door solicitors using high pressure and assertive sales pitches.

The PSU has received complaints that a water filtration company has been indirectly questioning the quality of Kahnaw�:ke�s drinking water and the PSU is advising community members to be aware that the water treatment plant carefully monitors water quality and is of the highest standard with no health issues. The company has been warned about their sales tactics and has agreed to comply.Although the company does hold a Hawkers & Peddlers permit, please note that an approved permit is not a product endorsement and the PSU does not support any products or services.

We would remind community members they are under no obligation to purchase any product at any time. The permits are issued to solicitors who pass a complete background check.If a salesperson holds a permit and is being inappropriate, please contact the PSU Office.
