The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform Kahnawa’kehrò:non that Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton and Ratitsénhaienhs Gina Deer, Clinton Phillips, Billy Diabo and Christine Zachary-Deom are participating in the Iroquois Caucus Economic Summit being held in Akwesasne today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday).

The Summit was organized to bring business and political leadership together to discuss issues relating to the current and future state of economic development within the Iroquoian communities.

Agenda items include overviews from each of the Iroquois Caucus communities (Kahnawà:ke, Akwesasne, Wahta, Tyendinaga, Kanesatake, Six Nations of the Grand River and the Oneida of the Thames); Separating Business from Politics; Renewable Energy; Border Crossing and Border Security; Tobacco; and the Iroquois Caucus Nation to Nation Trade & Commerce Protocol Agreement.

Among the presenters are Kyle Delisle of Tewatohnhi’saktha; Dr. Steven Cornell, who is the Co-Director of the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development; and Steve Williams of Grand River Enterprises.
