The Public Relations unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is announcing format changes to Kahnawà:ke Television (KTV) beginning this week. Keeping in line with people’s wish to receive their information in a timely manner, KTV will focus on airing segments as they are produced on both Kaná:takon TV (Paul′s 300 & 399) and its YouTube channel KahnawakeTV.com .

KTV recently signed a contract with the Kanien’kehá:ka Raotitióhkwa Onkwawén:na Cultural Center (the new channel owners) and will continue to air on Kaná:takon TV four times daily for one hour at 7am, noon, 6 and 11pm, however, there will no longer be a formal show as KTV had been debuting Fridays. Instead, segments will be added individually to a 30-minute playlist as they are produced. The newest segments will always appear at the top of the rotation replacing the oldest segments. Each segment will show the date of publication and the playlist will air two times per hour at a minimum (newest possibly airing 3 times depending on time). All KTV Segments can be seen on demand at KahnawakeTV.com .

The timing of this change is directly related to the Public Relations Office recent move to a new building on River Road which now has a studio.

KTV was created by the MCK’s Public Relation/Communications Team in 2001 to take advantage of an opportunity to use the new Paul’s Cable outlet to better inform Kahnawa’kehró:non on political and community issues. The initial format, which was adhered to for many years, was to produce a new program every two weeks. KTV will continue to concentrate on the MCK’s political issues and operational initiatives while providing an outlet for some community-oriented stories to help balance the program.
