KLCC receives second request to amend Election Law - View PDF

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) would like to inform the community that it received a request on November 25, 2021, to amend the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Election Law (“Election Law”). The request was made by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke’s Executive Office.

As per the Multiple Requests for Legislation or Amendments to Existing Legislation process (“Multiple Requests”), the KLCC will not accept any further submissions to amend the Election Law.

The first request to amend the Election law was submitted by Mr. Brian Goodleaf and became officially accepted with the signing of Mohawk Council Executive Directive # 84/2021-2022 on November 16, 2021, approving the 2021-2024 legislative Calendar. According to the Multiple Requests process, the deadline of fifteen (15) days to receive any further requests to amend the Election law was December 1, 2021.

The community will be notified once it is deemed safe to resume Community Decision Making Process hearings.
