The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Joel Jacobs is retiring today after a 30-year career at the MCK.

He began his career on contract in September 1992, working for the Kahnawake Economic Development Group, which fell under MCK at the time. He became a permanent/Indeterminate employee in 1993.

In 1997, he joined the Tourism team on a secondment. He later moved to the then Social Development Unit for several years, where he began working to administer Mohawk Self Insurance (MSI). He transferred to the Kahnawà:ke Labor Office (KLO) upon its formation in 2016, where he continued working in the administration of MSI as the KLO Financial Manager.

Mr. Jacobs also spent some time working with the Kahnawà:ke Peacekeepers.

Aside from his work, ‘Chef Joel’ is famous for his culinary skills. He often supplied his co-workers with his unique soup and cheesecake creations on a regular basis.

His former colleagues and many friends within the organization wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.
