Potential shuttle bus survey results posted

05/20/2010

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community about the results of a survey that was conducted to gauge public opinion on the possibility of creating a shuttle bus service within the community.

127 surveys were conducted by Chief Kenneth McComber at the ‘Chiefs Kiosk’ at the Services Complex, while 83 surveys were completed on-line. Out of the 210 respondents, 170 said they would use a shuttle bus service.

64 people said they would use the service daily, while 57 they would use it weekly. There were lesser responses for the other categories (bi-weekly, monthly, occasionally).

109 indicated that they would like to see the service run seven days a week, 50 people wanted weekday service, while 10 wanted weekend service.

A number of schedule times were indicated on the survey, with consistent support shown for each.

The proposed shuttle bus would provide a link to the main village from outlying areas of the community such as the Old Chateauguay Road, 207, Clay Mountains and South Texas.

The survey results will be analyzed and the MCK will look into the feasibility of such a service. Once a decision is made, the Community will be made aware. Please keep in mind that there is no time frame as to when a decision will be made.
