The Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke issues permits within the community for Landfill, Filming, Hawkers & Peddlers, Alcohol and Beverages, and other non-categorized requests. Individuals, establishments or organizations must possess an authorized permit to conduct any regulated activities within the Territory of Kahnawà:ke.

Alcoholic Beverages Control

[ABC] - Current Alcoholic Beverages Control Permit Holders - August 21, 2019

Notice: There will be no further Bar Permits issued in the community proper (from Peacekeeper Station to the Tunnel). Also, there is moratorium on Manufacturing Permits in place until further notice.

Film

Our community has become increasingly more popular as a filming/photography production location. The Council of Chiefs have recognized the need to have procedures in place for the protection and benefit of the community and have delegated the Lands Unit to process requests and issue permits on private and common land for production companies and individuals who wish to use the Territory for these purposes.

The procedures will apply to any company, group, or individual requesting to film movies, film for television, take videos or take photographs in the Territory that are for professional use. The Lands Unit has assigned a Film Liaison to process applications, provide notifications and act as the primary contact for all filming or photography activities.

In order to safeguard the well-being of Kahnawa'kehrò:non and protect our environment, an informational resource for private landholders is available at the Lands Unit to provide guidelines for negotiations and contracts between community members and production companies. Landholders are responsible to meet with the Film Liaison and get the informational package, which includes an application for permits, should a production company or individual want to use their land for filming/photography productions.

Any Kahnawa'kehrò:non performing their own filming or photography on common or private land for their own personal use will not be required to apply for a permit from the Lands Unit. However, such activities must not cause any public safety issues or disturbances to the community.

The community will be made aware of any major productions and kept informed either directly or through local media forums.

Landfill

-Landfill Permit issue to Joe Ciconte, Construction Merineau & Andre Turcot for the delivery of 50-70 loads of material that will be used as road base on the property of:

  1. Mrs.   Marguerite Phillips Diabo (Kerry Diabo) on Route 207.   
    1. The material has been approved by KEPO and signed off by the Landfill Authority.
    2. The project is expected to take a week weather pending.
