MCK offers condolences for former Council Chief

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) would like to offer its condolences to the friends and family of Ida Goodleaf, who passed away on Monday at her home in Kahnawą:ke. Mrs. Goodleaf was elected to the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke for four consecutive terms, serving as a Council Chief from 1978 to 1986. She was well-known and respected for speaking her mind on the issues and continued to participate in politics for many years after she left office. She was predeceased by her husband Joe Goodleaf and, recently, by her son Alan (Sonny) Goodleaf and is survived by three children, fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren along with many relatives and friends. Viewing is at the Poissant & Deer Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2pm on Thursday, 27 Onerahtohkó:wa/May. Ida Goodleaf was 88 years old.
