Peacekeepers Investigate Discovery of Human Remains

06/01/2010

The Kahnawà:ke Peacekeepers are continuing with their investigation into the discovery of human remains. The remains were discovered yesterday afternoon in a wooded area just off the 132 east service road near Adirondack Junction in Kahnawà:ke.

The Peacekeepers secured the area around 14:30 hrs, and requested assistance from the Sûreté du Québec’s Crime Scene Unit.

“The remains have been taken to a lab for analysis,” said Chief Peacekeeper Dwayne Zacharie. “An autopsy will be conducted to identify the victim, and determine the cause of death.”

The area where the human remains were discovered is still an active crime scene, and Peacekeepers are maintaining a security perimeter.
