Peacekeepers Investigate Unauthorized Use of Emergency Radio Frequencies
06/23/2010
The Kahnawake Peacekeepers have started an investigation into the recent disruptions of local emergency communications. Over the last several days, both the Peacekeeper and Fire Bridge radio frequencies have been interrupted by unauthorized broadcasts. “The individual responsible for these disruptions can face some very serious criminal charges,” said Peacekeeper Chief Dwayne Zacharie. “Not only is it illegal to broadcast on emergency radio frequencies, it poses a very serious threat to the safety of our people and community, by cutting off vital communication to our officers,” added Chief Zacharie. Investigators will be using sophisticated equipment to pinpoint the location of the person or individuals responsible for the recent disruptions.
