Sewage problem has been repaired
07/20/2010
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MC) Public Works Unit is pleased to inform the Community that the ‘Grinder Pump,’ a major component of our sewage treatment system, which broke down last week, has been repaired as of 13:45 hours today (July 20). The pump broke down on July 15.
The Sewage Treatment Plant is now back online as all sewage is once again flowing through the
Plant and is being treated before going into the St. Lawrence River outfall pipe.
Further, the Plant has ordered a new Grinder Pump to serve as a back-up in hopes of preventing
this specific problem from re-occurring in the future.
