Reminder: Mercier Bridge weekend closures
07/22/2010
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to remind all Kahnawa’kehró:non that the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated and the Ministère des Transports du Québec will completely close the Kahnawà:ke-bound lanes of the Mercier Bridge to traffic for the next two weekends from July 23 to 26 and from July 30 to August 2 (instead of August 6 to 9). In each case the closure will occur from Friday, 11:59 PM to Monday, 5 AM. Please note that one lane out of two will remain closed on the Mercier Bridge until 10 AM on Monday morning towards the South Shore.
Traffic will be re-directed to one lane in each direction on the Montreal-bound side of the bridge until this Monday at 10am. Please note that the Airlie entrance ramp will also be closed during the work periods.
These closures will allow for important repairs to be made to the deck, as well as the reinforcement of the steel structure. The flow of traffic will be very slow during these two weekends and motorists are encouraged to avoid using the Mercier Bridge during these periods.
