Mercier closures for opening of Ramp 3

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) will close portions of the Mercier Bridge from 8 pm until 5 am tonight (Tuesday) to allow for the opening of Ramp 3 towards Chateauguay, which is scheduled for September 1st.
The following closures will take place:
- 8 pm – 5 am: Complete closure of the Airlie exit
- 8 pm – 5 am: Alternating right and left lane closures on the Kahnawà:ke bound span of the bridge for the removal of signage and to mark the lines towards Ramp 3 (closures begin on the right lane)
Significant traffic congestion is expected on Route 138 heading towards Kahnawà:ke as far as the St-Pierre Interchange from 8:30 pm until 10:30 pm and at the Airlie exit from 8 pm until 11 pm.
The following work will also be performed:
- 10 pm – 12 am midnight: Opening of Ramp 3 to traffic, towards Chateauguay
- 11 pm - 5 am: Complete closure of Ramp 2 heading towards La Prairie for the installation of signage. A marked detour will be provided via Route 207 (Saint-Isidore Road)
Starting September 1st at 5 am, the left lane of down ramp 2 heading towards La Prairie will be closed to traffic to prepare for the deck replacement. The start date of this work will be announced shortly.
The completion of work on Ramp 3 is the first of two phases of the Mercier Bridge Rehabilitation Project and was awarded to the Mohawk Bridge Consortium, who finished the rehabilitation work a month early.
