Kahnawà:ke consumer advisory

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is advising community members that a sales representative for “Shaw Direct” is in the Territory selling satellite services and that Kahnawa’kehró:non purchasing services from this company will be paying taxes.

There have been problems with the Shaw Direct billing department, who are continuing to assess and charge taxes to Kahnawà:ke clients.

The MCK’s tax consultant, John Latour, has made several attempts to resolve the problem with Mr. Robert Morin, the Shaw Direct sales representative. At a meeting held on 3, Seskéha/ October, Mr. Morin made assurances that the problem would be corrected; however, the problem continues at this time.

Additionally, Mr. Latour contacted Shaw Direct Customer Service on 13 Seskéha/October but has not yet received a reply.

Kahnawa’kehró:non are being advised to refrain from purchasing services from this company until the situation is resolved.
