Mercier Bridge weekend lane closure reminder
10/29/2010
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to remind motorists that the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated and the Ministère des Transports du Québec will continue with weekend lane closures scheduled for the Mercier Bridge from October 29th to November 1st. One lane (left) on the Kahnawà:ke-bound side of the bridge will be closed to traffic, with the right lane remaining open from tonight (Friday) at 11pm until Monday at 5am to do work on the steel structure under the bridge. The Montreal-bound side of the bridge will remain open all weekend. Please note that the width of lane will be reduced to 3.3 metres during the work. Trucks exceeding this width should take an optional route. As well, mobile paving works will be executed on the Bridge on Tuesday, November 2nd from 10am to 1:30pm. During this period, one lane will be closed in the area where the works will be done. Please note that in case of bad weather this work will be done on November 3rd. These closures allow repairs to be made which will strengthen the steel structure that supports the bridge deck over the river. Installation of new membranes, steel plates and repairs to the existing steel will be carried out. This repair work was initiated at the beginning of the construction season and will be completed in the coming weeks.
