Four local kids visit Disney World courtesy Dreams Take Flight

11/03/2010

Four Kahnawà:ke children are visiting Walt Disney World today, courtesy of Dreams Take Flight.

The children boarded a special Air Canada flight bound for Orlando, Florida. They will spend the entire day enjoying all the rides and attractions with approximately 175 other children.

Chief Clinton Phillips and several Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) employees joined the children and their families early this morning to see them off. The flight left Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport in Dorval at about 7am.

Each year, Dreams Take Flight takes socially, physically and mentally challenged children from across Canada to Disney World. The Montreal chapter of Dreams Take Flight has been providing children with this once-in-a-lifetime trip for the past sixteen years.

The MCK has been involved with the Dreams Take Flight organization since 2004, helping 26 local kids live a dream. Children are selected by Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services based on the requirements and standards set by Dreams Take Flight.

The group is expected to return at approximately 10:30pm this evening.
