Lane closure on Mercier Bridge
01/10/2011
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform road users that the Ministère de Transport du Québec (MTQ) will conduct inspection work on the Mercier Bridge from Tuesday, January 11th to Wednesday, January 12th between 7am and 3pm. During this period, one of two Kahnawà:ke-bound lanes will be closed.
The MTQ also wishes to remind motorists of the Kahnawà:ke-bound bridge restrictions implemented on December 29th: all trucks are forbidden on both lanes of the bridge in the south shore direction and the speed limit is reduced to 50km/h for all vehicles. This decision was taken because of the installation of Jersey cement barriers to ensure the protection of the bridge’s guardrails.
Access to the bridge is still permitted for buses, emergency vehicles and snow removal vehicles. The two proposed detours for trucks are the Champlain Bridge or the Monseigneur-Langlois Bridge.
Montreal-bound traffic remains normal.
