05/25/2011
The Capital Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform all Kahnawa’kehró:non that the existing main waterline on the Old Malone Highway will be replaced. The works are schedule to take place Monday to Friday from 7am until 3:30pm until November 25, 2011.
The project will be carried out in sections to minimize inconvenience to all community members. A temporary water line will be installed to ensure service to all residents and businesses during construction. Section one will start from The Grill Restaurant to Poissant/Deere Funeral Parlor. Section two will start at Karonhianónhnha School to Shell Gas Station and Section 3 will start at Kanes Corner to Eileens Bakery (see map below).
Works will consist of: • Replacing the existing cast iron water mains with new Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). • Replacing fire hydrants and water main valves. • Replacing house service valves • Installing new asphalt surface in work zones
Residents in the area may be inconvenienced with temporary loss of water, dust and noise from trucks and equipment, detours and temporary road closures. Residents will be notified at least one day prior to having the water turned off. Proper road signalization will be installed to warn of the construction limits. The community will also be notified when a road closure is scheduled.
The Capital Construction Crews will be replacing the water line to ensure better service to the community for our future needs. Your patience and cooperation throughout this project is greatly appreciated. Please contact the Technical Services Office at 450-635-1016 for further information or special requests.
