MCK, MBC sign Fair Wage Agreement

05/31/2011

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the Fair Wage Agreement for 2011-2012 has been signed and has come into effect. The Agreement is retroactive to 1, Onerahtohkó:wa/May and will expire on 30, Onerahtókha/April, 2012.

The Fair Wage Agreement sets wages, safe working conditions and benefits for all “works on bridge, structures, bridge components and approachways in the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawą:ke.” The Agreement is an essential component for repair works on the Mercier Bridge.

The Agreement was signed on Monday, 30 Onerahtohkó:wa/May by Labor Portfolio Chief Rhonda Kirby on behalf of the MCK. Wayne Rice, Sterling Deer and Peter Morris signed on behalf of the Mohawk Bridge Consortium. Other than a cost of living adjustment, it remains basically the same as the 2010-2011 Agreement.
