Mercier Bridge: Kahnawake-bound lanes closed until September
06/15/2011
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake wishes to inform road users that the Ministere de Transport du Quebec (MTQ) will completely shut down the Mercier Bridge at 11:30am, this morning. The closure is required to reconfigure the Montreal-bound lanes to accept Kahnawake-bound traffic for the afternoon rush hour.
For the next few months the Kahnawake-bound side of the bridge will be completely closed to traffic in order to replace 10 gusset plates. Therefore, the Montreal-bound lanes will accomodate all traffic.
As of 1pm today until 11:59pm, there will only be Kahnawake-bound traffic. Montreal-bound traffic will be available from 12am (midnight) to 1pm for the morning rush hour. This schedule is expected to remain in effect Monday to Friday until September. Weekend traffic configurations will be announced at a later date.
The configuration may change as the MTQ studies traffic patterns. The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake will keep the community informed up to the minute as developments occur.
