Mercier Bridge: Truck ban will be lifted

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke wishes to inform road users that, as reported earlier, the Ministčre de Transport du Quebec (MTQ) will lift its ban on southbound truck traffic. This means that until repairs are completed on the Kahnawą:ke-bound side of the span, trucks will be allowed to access the south shore via the current detour. The MTQ is expected to send out their official press release to the public later today.
The complete shut down of the Kahnawą:ke-bound side of the Mercier Bridge remains in order to replace 10 gusset plates.
The following traffic configuration schedule has been put in place for until further notice:
1pm - Midnight: Both lanes in the Kahnawą:ke-bound direction ONLY. Midnight - 1am: Complete stoppage of traffic to reconfigure for direction change. 1am Noon: Both lanes in the Montreal-bound direction ONLY. Noon 1pm: Complete stoppage of traffic to reconfigure for direction change. Weekends: From Friday midnight to Sunday midnight one lane in each direction will be available.
This schedule is subject to change as the MTQ studies traffic patterns. The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke will keep the community informed up to the minute as developments occur.
