Emergency Services Protocol for Mercier Bridge
06/27/2011
The Community Protection Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke wishes to inform all Kahnawakehró:non and surrounding communities that Kahnawą:ke Emergency Services have a protocol in place to actively address potential emergency transport issues that may occur on the Mercier Bridge. This protocol has recently been updated in light of the current situation regarding traffic on the bridge.
The latest update specifically addresses the period when only one-way traffic is allowed on the bridge. The Kahnawą:ke Peacekeepers, surrounding police forces, Kahnawą:ke Fire Brigade, CETAM Ambulance Company, Alert Santé, the Montreal Fire Department, Anna Laberge Hospital and Kahnawą:ke Emergency Planning have all agreed on a protocol that will ensure that any patients who need to be immediately transported to Montreal Area Hospitals will not have to take the longer detour route.
The situation is continually being monitored by the emergency service providers mentioned above who will continue work together to make any appropriate changes to maintain rapid emergency services.
Questions or concerns can be directed to Arnold Lazare, Emergency Planning Manager at (450) 632-0635.
