Special Community Meeting on land-based gaming issue
09/27/2011
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to remind the community that a special Community Meeting on the land-based gaming issue will be taking place tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at the Golden Age Club.
The agenda consists of a presentation, to be followed by a question and answer session.
The MCK announced earlier this month that Phase 2 of the project has been launched.
“The first phase of study, which was done in-house, indicated that a casino-type project would be most feasible and profitable to meet our goals,” said Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr. “It’s essential that any decisions that are made in the future are based on professional market studies, as well as financial and social impact studies. That’s what we’re doing next.”
A budget of $115,000 has been set aside from the MCK’s Operational Reserve to conduct the studies and for other costs related to the project.
The meeting starts at 7pm.
