10/03/2011
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke has been informed by the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) that a third spray treatment of its Ecological Control of Vegetation Program will take place around the emergency docks in Kahnawą:ke on Tuesday, October 4th.
The third treatment is necessary to ensure the complete removal of any poison ivy that survived the first two sprayings.
In the past, SLSMC personnel have been affected by the poison ivy when carrying out maintenance work on the docks.
The herbicide, Adios Ambros, is 99.8% Sodium Chloride (salt) based and has been deemed to be a reduced risk product and safe for humans, animals, waterways and vegetation by Health Canada. More information on the herbicide, along with the Material Safety Data Sheet, can be found online at www.kahnawake.com under Public Documents.
