Environment Protection Office to provide free curbside leaf pickup
10/21/2011
The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) is pleased to announce that a free curbside leaf collection service will be provided to the community on November 10th, by appointment only.
Community members are encouraged to compost their leaves on their own or bring them to the designated area at the Transfer Depot. For those who wish to have their leaves picked up, simply call 450-635-0600 and submit your name, phone number and location.
To ensure your leaf compost is picked up: • Use only transparent, clear or paper bags • Place only leaves in the bag
Your leaf compost will NOT be picked up if there are any of the following items in the bag: • Garbage or Recyclables (ie. Papers, plastics, metals, glass, etc) • Other compostable materials (ie. Food scraps) • Animal waste or Branches
This service is being offered as part of KEPO’s community waste reduction plan. KEPO will hire a contractor to pick up the leaves but the service will be free for community members. Collected leaves will be composted rather than wasted in a landfill.
For more information, contact KEPO at 450-635-0600.
