Mercier Bridge: all lanes accessible

11/14/2011

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) has been informed by the Ministčre des Transport du Quebec that the fourth lane that was closed for structural repair on the Mercier Bridge, is now open.

Both spans and all four lanes are now available for travel on the Mercier Bridge.

The Kahnawą:ke-bound span was closed in June when inspections showed that structural repairs to 10 gusset plates were needed before any traffic could utilize the span.

During the closure, there was no access to Kahnawą:ke during peak rush hours, until September 6th, when the right lane was opened to accommodate for counter-flow traffic.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding for the closures and ever-changing schedules and configurations.

The MCK will do its best to keep road users informed as future developments occur. For updates visit www.kahnawake.com and while you are there subscribe to our Text Messaging Service for timely updates by filling out the online form.
