CPR Holiday Train seventh visit to Kahnawą:ke
11/16/2011
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that the Canadian Pacific Railways Holiday Train will make its seventh visit to Kahnawą:ke in what has become an annual tradition in the community.
Beautifully decorated with thousands of colored lights, the train is scheduled to arrive at the Adirondack Junction at 6:45pm on Friday, 25 Kentenhkó:wa/November. A half-hour musical show begins at about 7pm featuring the Brothers Dube. Volunteers will be on site to accept donations and to distribute hot chocolate, hot dogs and glow sticks.
The Kahnawą:ke Christmas Basket Committee will be the recipient of monetary donations while food items will be donated to the Kahnawą:ke Food Bank from those attending the event and the Canadian Pacific Railway. Over the past decade the Holiday Train has raised well over $4 million and two million pounds of food for local food banks.
To reduce traffic volume in the area, the MCK is encouraging the use of a free Shuttle Bus service provided. Two buses will depart from the town garage at 6pm to bring passengers to the Adirondack Junction and then return after the event. Visit www.kahnawake.com for a map of the shuttle bus route.
