Report favorable, casino studies to continue

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that Chief & Council have accepted the results of the market assessment study conducted by The Innovation Group in relation to a possible Kahnawà:ke casino project.

“We’re impressed with the quality of the report, the diligence used in gathering the information and, most important, the favorable outlook for a potential casino,” said Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr. “The Innovation Group will now conduct the social impact and economic impact studies. If all goes well, these will be completed before the end of the year.”

A special Community Meeting will be scheduled once all three studies are completed. This is expected to take place early in the New Year.

A summary of the market assessment study will be made available to the community in the next few days, via www.kahnawake.com and on CKER (Paul’s Cable channel 3).

Chief & Council passed the Request for Decision at today’s Council Meeting. The motion passed 8-1, with Chief Carl Horn objecting.
