Next Special Community Meeting on the casino issue announced

01/09/2012

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that the next Special Community Meeting on the proposed Casino will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 12 noon at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

The Kahnawą:ke Casino Project Team will be presenting the final two studies of Phase Two Research; Social Impacts and Economic Impacts. The presentation is expected to last a minimum of two (2) hours and could take as long as three (3), followed by an open discussion. The entire meeting may last up to five (5) hours.

"We are holding this second meeting on the proposed casino project on a Saturday to ensure all the important information contained in the two reports can be completely shared with the community. We understand that a weekend meeting may be a challenge for some, but believe that given the amount of information and its importance, we wanted to ensure there would be enough time to engage with the community," said Grand Chief Mike Delisle Jr.

The first Special Community Meeting on the Casino issue was held last fall on a Wednesday evening with approximately 90 people attending. The MCK hopes the weekend date could improve attendance.

Should you be unable to attend the meeting, the actual presentation summaries will be available on www.kahnawakecasinproject.com and, as always, if you have questions or concerns about the project you can contact any Council Chief at any time or call Joe Delaronde at 450-632-7500.
