01/17/2012
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform Kahnawa’kehró:non that the Kahnawà:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) has selected Orenda Boucher-Curotte to be the Community Representative on the Commission.
Five people applied for the position, which was posted on 14 Tsothóhrha/December. Lori Jacobs has been selected to act as an alternate.
Ms. Boucher-Curotte will participate as a full-fledged member of the Commission, which meets officially three to four times per month. Community Decision Making Process hearings or other meetings are also scheduled from time to time.
“We’d like to congratulate Orenda on her selection and welcome her to the Commission,” said KLCC Coordinator Kahente Horn-Miller. “She has a great background, which should help her tackle the challenges ahead – which we all share. As well, Lori is well-known and respected and will provide the community with an excellent alternate representative. We’re very pleased that several people applied, which is very encouraging.”
The selections will be confirmed by Chief & Council at an upcoming Council meeting.
