Hydro-Quebec planned outage

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to inform residents that Hydro-Quebec is planning maintenance work that will require an interruption in electricity service on Tuesday, January 31st from 8:30am to 9:30am, weather permitting.

In case of rainy or undesirable weather conditions, the work will take place the following day, Wednesday, February 1st.

The line in need of maintenance is near the CPR Tunnel and will affect 120 homes in the areas of the Old Malone Highway, River Road, Lahache Road, and Meloche Road.

Residents have been notified via a Hydro-Quebec automated message that the following electronics should be unplugged during the outage: televisions, DVD players, sound systems, computers and microwaves. When electricity is restored, there is a possibility of power surges strong enough to cause damage to these types of electronics.

Homes that utilize electric heating should also be pre-heated to ensure it stays warm during the outage.
