Caution - open ice in Tioweró:ton
01/27/2012
The Tioweroton Committee of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to advise community members who frequent the Tioweró:ton Territory to be cautious around ponds and lakes while riding their snowmobiles.
Caretakers have noticed open water and slushy conditions on several lakes that community members frequent when riding their snowmobiles. If you are venturing out, please ensure you stay away from the lakes or be cautious when passing by. Advise a friend, family member or the caretaker of your destination and your estimated time of return, just to be safe.
When venturing out in Tioweró:ton this winter, remember to pack some warm clothing and a winter emergency kit with blankets, food, fuel and first aid supplies.
For more information on the conditions, please contact a Caretaker in Tioweró:ton at (819) 321-3375 or the Tioweró:ton Coordinator at (450) 638-8244.
