Electoral Officer appointed for 2012 MCK Elections at community meeting

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to announce that Timmy Norton was formally appointed as Electoral Officer for the 2012 MCK Elections at a community meeting held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Golden Age Club.

In accordance with section 3.4 of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke Election Law a community meeting must be held for the appointment of the Electoral Officer. Normally a vote is held to determine who will be appointed by the community to be Electoral Officer. However, due to there being only one (1) nominee, no vote was required.

The sole nominee, Timmy Norton, met all of the eligibility requirements to be the Electoral Officer under the terms of section 6.1 of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke Election Law. The Electoral Officer is responsible to perform all duties pertaining to the 2012 MCK Election as set out in the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke Election Law.
