MCK chiefs to participate in Onentókon 25th anniversary celebrations
06/15/2012
Chiefs Rhonda Kirby and Clinton Phillips will represent the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) at a gala event at 10am today to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Onen’tó:kon Treatment Services, the largest and longest-operating facility of its type in the Quebec region.
The chiefs, both of whom hold the health portfolio for the MCK, will offer congratulations on the milestone anniversary.
Onen’tó:kon opened its doors in 1987 to assist all First Nations and Inuit men and women in their struggles with alcohol and drugs. Kahnawà:ke, through Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services, has maintained a close working relationship with Onen’tó:kon throughout the entire 25 years.
Onen’tó:kon is located in the Pines area of Kanesatake.
