Complete closure of Mercier Montreal-bound lanes - June 29th to July 3rd

06/25/2012

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke wishes to inform road users that the Ministčre des Transports du Quebec (MTQ) will perform major repairs to the slab of the Montreal-bound span of the Mercier Bridge from Friday, June 29th at 10pm until Tuesday, July 3rd at 5am.

A complete closure of both Montreal-bound lanes is necessary during this period with only two lanes available in the Kahnawą:ke-bound direction. The MTQ could not allow for contraflow traffic because of the width of the Kahnawą:ke-bound structure. Additionally, a phase change with two lanes towards Montreal cannot work because the configuration of its approaches won’t permit it.

Because there will be NO traffic towards Montreal during these works, road users must take one of the other South Shore bridges located along the South Shore, Highways 15/20.

Please note, these works may be canceled or postponed due to weather conditions or operational constraints.

Other major interventions on the Mercier Bridge are planned each week-end until mid-July. However, during these works one lane will be open in each direction. Details will be confirmed one week in advance.
