Mercier Bridge one lane per direction this weekend

08/29/2012

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform road users that the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated and the Ministère des Transports du Québec will limit traffic to a single lane per direction on the Mercier Bridge from Friday, August 31st at 10pm until Sunday, September 2nd at 5am.

The Kahnawà:ke-bound Bridge will be isolated in order to allow preparatory work for the opening of the new Monette overpass on the LaSalle side. During this period, the bridge’s access ramp from Airlie Street at LaSalle towards the South Shore will also be closed. An attendant will be posted at the entrance to the Airlie access ramp to facilitate access for buses and public transportation from 8am to 7pm on Saturday.

The off-ramp in the Châteauguay direction will also be completely closed to traffic on Saturday, September 1st from 2am to 5pm. A detour will be set up using the off-ramp towards La Prairie then Route 132 towards Châteauguay.

This preparatory work is likely to continue for a second weekend to allow the opening of the new Monette overpass to traffic. Note that this road work may be postponed depending on weather conditions.
