New wage subsidy program Mohawk Self Insurance

10/02/2012

The Social Development Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawàke is pleased to announce a new Mohawk Self Insurance (MSI) initiative that will provide wage subsidies for employers that re-integrate injured employees into the workplace.

MSI is Kahnawà:ke’s workers compensation program.

The MSI Wage Subsidy allows employers the opportunity to subsidize wages for injured employees who return to the work-force in a different field not hindered by their injury. For eligible participants, the MSI wage subsidy could provide up to 80% of the salary for up to one year. It assists the employers to fill vacant positions, as well as helps re-establish self-esteem and productivity for employees.

“Employees suffering from a workplace injury now have the assistance they need to return to work,“ stated MSI Manager, Joel Jacobs. “We need employers to put them to work. We’re helping injured employees adapt to a new work environment, while helping offset the wage cost for businesses and organizations.”

The program is only available to businesses that provide benefits, such as Employment Insurance, Quebec Parental Insurance Plan and MSI. To protect your employees, please register with MSI by contacting an administrator at 450-638-0500.

Joel Jacobs will be a guest on today’s K103 Partyline Talkshow to discuss this program.
