11/01/2012
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to offer its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Pearl Splicer Jacobs, who passed away this morning at the age of 87. Mrs. Jacobs was very much involved in the Kahnawà:ke’s election process for many years. She was Electoral Officer for several consecutive elections beginning in the late 1970’s. After she retired from that position, she assisted her daughter Lori, who also took on the role of Electoral Officer in the 1990’s.
“For a long time, her appointment was practically automatic,” said Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr. “She conducted the elections with great skill, diligence and integrity, and earned the trust of the community. Her efforts will be remembered for years to come.”
She is survived by her daughters Lori, Karen, Heather, former Council Chief Arlene Jacobs and their spouses, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ernie Aieh Jacobs.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family.
