The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is happy to announce that four Kahnawà:ke children are visiting Walt Disney World today courtesy of Air Canada’s ‘Dreams Take Flight’ program.
The kids left at approximately 6:30am this morning for Orlando, Florida along with approximately 175 other children.
Kahnawà:ke resident Lionel Jacobs is accompanying the kids as a chaperone. He won the right to attend as part of a contest held earlier this year during a fund-raising event.
Several MCK staff, including Ken Bourque, Dwaine White, Melissa Curotte, Trina C. Diabo, and Chiefs Gina Deer, Bobby Patton and Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer accompanied the kids to Trudeau Airport. Forrest Horn represented the Kahnawake Peacekeepers and, as usual, Ricky ‘Delly’ D’Ailleboust was the bus driver.
“This was my first time volunteering and it was just awesome to be part of it and to see these kids get an opportunity of a lifetime,” said volunteer Trina C. Diabo.
Dreams Take Flight takes physically, socially and mentally challenged children from across Canada to Disney World. There is no cost to the children or their families.
The group will return to Montreal late this evening.
