Reminder – CP Holiday Train comes to Kahnawake Tuesday
11/26/2012
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like remind the community that Canadian Pacific’s Holiday Train will make its eighth visit to Kahnawà:ke in what has become an annual tradition in the community. The train is scheduled to arrive at the Adirondack Junction around 6:45pm tomorrow evening (Tuesday, 27 Kentenhkó:wa/November). A half-hour musical show featuring The Claytones and Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer Tracey Brown begins at 7pm.
Volunteers will be on site to accept donations and to distribute hot chocolate, hot dogs and glow sticks. Monetary & food donations from Canadian Pacific and those attending the event will go to the Kahnawà:ke Christmas Basket Committee and the Kahnawà:ke Food Bank respectively. Over the past decade the Holiday Train has raised well over $5 million and two million pounds of food for local food banks.
To reduce traffic volume in the area, the MCK is encouraging the use of a free Shuttle Bus service provided. Two buses will depart from the town garage at 5:45pm to bring passengers to the Adirondack Junction and return after the event (see bus route on page 2). Visit www.kahnawake.com for a map of the shuttle bus route.
