Grand Chief to meet Quebec Premier Marois

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that Grand Chief Michael Ahríhrhon Delisle, Jr. will meet with Quebec Premiere Pauline Marois, Secretary General Jean St. Gelais, Deputy Minister of Native Affairs Michel Létourneau and other members of the Premiere′s office today in Quebec City.
The meeting is to spell out the relationship between Kahnawà:ke and the new Quebec government. The Grand Chief will seek commitments from Premiere Marois to work collaboratively with Kahnawà:ke to move forward on the Seigneury of Sault St. Louis land grievance, Economic Development and Lands issues, among others files.
"It′s always prudent to meet face to face, especially early in the term," said Grand Chief Michael Ahríhrhon Delisle, Jr. "We hope to bring Mme. Marois and her team a clear and firm understanding of our issues in order to create a respectful and positive relationship."
Chief of Staff Mike O’Brien will also be in attendance. The Grand Chief will return to the office on Tuesday, December 11th.
