Chief heads to London for annual e-gaming conference
02/01/2013
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that Gaming Portfolio Chief Gina Deer will be traveling to London, England to attend the annual International Gaming Exposition (commonly known as the ‘ICE Show’) which is the world’s largest e-gaming event.
The ICE Show is a combination conference and trade show in which the world leaders in the on-line gaming industry converge to network with clients, regulators and testing agencies.
“It’s important that we maintain our presence at this important event,” said Gaming Portfolio Chief Gina Deer. “There are many challenges to be faced, especially politically – and we’d rather face them straight on. My role next week will be to help reassure clients and other regulators that we’re firmly maintaining our role as an industry leader.”
Since 1998, Mohawk Internet Technologies and, later, Continent 8 Technologies, have combined to provide services to the on-line gaming industry. Mohawk Internet technologies, 100% owned by the Mohawks of Kahnawà:ke, is a partner to Continent 8 technologies, in which Kahnawà:ke maintains a 40% share.
In 2011 Continent 8 Technologies was awarded the prestigious ‘Technology Supplier of the Year’ at the International Gaming Awards, which are part of the ICE Show. This year’s event takes place from 5 to 7 Enníska/February. Due to the nature of international travel, Chief Deer will be out of the office for the entire week and will return to the office on 11 Enníska/February.
