MCK issues clarification regarding Eastern Door and Canada Post inserts
02/15/2013
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) and the Kahnawake Peacekeepers would like to inform the community that a paid insert included in today’s Eastern Door was not purchased by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke.
The front page of the six-page insert is a letter issued in December 2011 by the MCK, which may give readers the impression that the documents were placed in the newspaper by the MCK, which is certainly not the case.
The insert also includes two press releases, one each by the MCK and the Peacekeepers, along with a two-page document regarding an alleged Idle No More protest initiative.
“We just want to avoid any confusion,” said Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr. “Any inserts or community notices coming from the MCK are always clearly identified.”
“It may have been prudent on the part of the person or persons responsible for the insert to identify themselves on the front page,” said Chief Peacekeeper Dwayne Zacharie.
Kahnawa’kehró:non should expect to find the same set of documents in their mailboxes in the next day or two.
