MCK formalizes appointment of Steering Committee for Independent Investigation into the Dismissal of Former Director of Education

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform Kahnawa’kehró:non that Chief and Council has formalized the appointment of three individuals to serve as the Steering Committee for the Independent Investigation into the dismissal of the former Director of Education, Donna Lahache.
Investigation firm Cooperative Solutions will conduct the Independent Investigation with the guidance of the Steering Committee as previously announced by MCK. The mandate of the Steering Committee includes responsibility for monitoring and advising on the Independent Investigation into the Dismissal of the Former Director of Education, and ensuring that it is carried out in accordance with the July 12th, 2012 Terms of Reference.
Individuals with interest to serve on the Steering Committee submitted their interest and were selected according to general criteria relevant to the investigation. The Steering Committee Members include: Patsy Bordeau, Shirley-Ellen Meloche, and Marlyn Kane.
“There was interest expressed by several competent community members, and I am confident that the three individuals selected will do very well as Steering Committee Members,” said Education Portfolio Chief Rhonda Kirby. “The Steering Committee carries the important responsibility to assure that the Investigation is conducted according to the Terms of Reference as mandated by the parents and guardians.”
